DETROIT – On Wednesday around 7 a.m., Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies were working undercover in the area of Sorrento Avenue and Schoolcraft Road.
It’s a typical area of enforcement for them per the department looking out for drugs and prostitution.
Deputies saw a man in a truck with a woman’s head in his lap. As they stopped, the department says the woman popped up, wiped off her face, and exited the truck.
The man, according to WCSO, identified himself as Detroit Police Commissioner Bryan Ferguson and asked a deputy if he could help him out.
The deputies on the scene did not help him out. He was written a citation for lewd behavior and had his truck towed.
The woman involved, who the department describes as a known prostitute, was cited as well.
Ferguson sits on the civilian Detroit Board of Police Commissioners, which is supposed to conduct oversight of the Detroit Police Department.
“We were made aware that a member of the Board of Police Commissioners (BOPC) was cited by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) for an alleged illegal activity, which occurred this morning. We have not seen the police report and do not have details on the incident. Therefore, it would not be appropriate to comment. We will consult with the City of Detroit Law Department regarding this matter.”
