Steven Wheeler, 30, charged with first-degree murder, felony firearm

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Steven Wheeler, 30, of Clinton Township, has been formally charged for allegedly murdering his wife.

Police say the 30-year-old got into an altercation with his wife on Thursday (Oct. 19). His wife called 911 and asked for the police to come because her husband was assaulting her.

It is alleged that while she was on the phone, Wheeler shot her multiple times, killing her.

Wheeler was charged with first-degree murder (Life felony) and felony firearm (Two-year mandatory felony).

His probable cause conference is scheduled for Monday (Nov. 6).

“We will seek justice for this victim and hope that those affected by domestic violence do not suffer in silence,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “Let us strive to create a community where every home is a safe place.”
