A Michigan woman called her husband with some exciting news this month -- they had just won $1.5 million from the Michigan Lottery.
The lucky 50-year-old player from Shiawassee County, who chose to remain anonymous, bought her winning ticket on Oct. 12 at the Marathon gas station, located at 707 North Saginaw Street in Durand. Durand is 20 miles southwest of Flint.

“I bought two Fast Cash tickets and won $30, so I reinvested my winnings on two more tickets,” said the player. “I scanned both before leaving the store and one gave a message to file a claim, so I took the ticket out to my car and looked it over. I thought I had won $250,000, but I called the Lottery office to make sure.
“I was at work when I got a call back from the Lottery. When the employee told me I’d won $1.5 million, I yelled: ‘Wait, what did you just say?’ I was expecting to hear $250,000, so I was flabbergasted when I heard $1.5 million.
“I walked back in to work, and my boss asked what was wrong because of the look on my face. I told her she was looking at the newest millionaire! Next, I called my husband. Once he answered, I yelled: ‘Honey, we’re millionaires!’ The rest of the day was a complete blur.”
The player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the prize. She plans to save her winnings.
“I’ve felt like I have been living in a dream since I won, and I think it’s finally starting to sink in,” the player said.
