LAPEER, Mich. – Here’s the plan for the Oxford High School shooter over the coming days and years.
The shooter was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He pleaded guilty to 24 felony charges after killing four students and injuring seven other people inside the high school on Nov. 30, 2021.
A spokesperson for the Michigan Department of Corrections said the shooter is currently being held at the Thumb Correctional Facility in Lapeer.
Since he’s a minor, the shooter will remain at the Thumb Correctional Facility until he turns 18. He will then be moved to a permanent facility.
As of Tuesday, the shooter was in the middle of the intake process. MDOC officials said that would take several days.
He has a cell to himself because the facility currently only has seven other juveniles in custody. The facility can hold about 80 juveniles.
The shooter will not have internet access, but he can buy a television if he can come up with the funds, according to authorities. Inmates have access to cable TV provided by the prisoner benefit fund, which is funded by money from prisoners who make purchases at the prisoner store, MDOC reports.
That money is also used to provide benefits such as basketball hoops and baseball equipment for leisure time.
