Police seek help identifying man involved in an attempted carjacking on Detroit’s west side

Suspect was described as a slim-built man age 15-20 years old

DETROIT – Police seek help identifying man who was involved in an attempted carjacking on Detroit’s west side.

The incident occurred on Tuesday (Dec. 12) at 7:35 p.m. in the 600 block of West Bethune Avenue, where the suspect approached the victim’s vehicle and demanded that they exit it and hand over their belongings.

Officials say the suspect then attempted to drive away with the vehicle, but after a struggle with the victim, the suspect crashed into a parked car before fleeing the scene on foot.

The suspect is described as a slim-built man who appeared to be between 15 – 20 years old. He is approximately 5′7″ and was wearing all-black clothing with gray accents; he has brown eyes and no facial hair.

A reward was issued for information leading to an arrest.
