The Powerball jackpot has grown to an estimated $638 million for the Christmas Day drawing.
The cash option for the jackpot is $321 million. If a player wins on Monday, it would be the fourth time the game’s jackpot has been won on Christmas and it would be the fourth-largest Powerball jackpot won this year.
The last time Powerball had a jackpot winner on Christmas Day was 10 years ago when a ticket in Missouri won a $71.5 million jackpot.
There have been three Powerball jackpots won on Christmas:
- Dec. 25, 1996 - $48.2 million – Idaho
- Dec. 25, 2002 - $314.9 million – West Virginia
- Dec. 25, 2013 - $71.5 million – Missouri
How to play Powerball
Powerball tickets are $2 per play.
Tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Tickets may be purchased until 9:45 p.m. the day of the drawing at retailers throughout the state. Tickets also may be purchased online at MichiganLottery.com.
Jackpot winners can choose to receive their prize in an annuity, paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or a lump sum payment. Both advertised prize options are before federal and jurisdictional taxes.
The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
