WARREN, Mich. – A small business owner in Macomb County is extra thankful this holiday season.
Arielle Dockery opened up her dream business -- a furniture store in Warren -- but right after she opened, something happened that almost cost her everything.
When a massive construction project started on 8 Mile Road, customers could not get into Ariel’s Furniture. It even looked like her building was under construction.

Customers were completely shut off from the business, which can’t survive if customers can’t get inside.
It was a nightmare for Dockery’s team, but she didn’t sit in her store waiting for construction to end. Dockery found new customers on social media and left the store to recruit customers all over. She drives the delivery truck herself for same-day delivery.
After a year with customers cut off, Dockery’s persistence paid off and Ariel’s Furniture is still going.
