Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged De-L Alekshay-Makalo Wesley, 49, of Eastpointe, in connection with a car crash that killed Dylan Bradford, 27, of Detroit, and injured a 35-year-old Inkster man.

Police said a tow truck arrived at 5 a.m. to tow the victim’s vehicles. At 5:14 a.m., it was alleged that Wesley was intoxicated, driving southbound on Hayes Street, when he collided with the tow truck, causing it to shift and strike Bradford and the tow truck driver.
Paramedics arrived on the scene and pronounced Bradford had succumbed to his injuries. The 35-year-old and Wesley were transported to a Metro Detroit hospital for treatment.
Wesley has been charged with reckless driving causing death, reckless driving causing serious impairment of a body function (Surviving victim), operating while intoxicated causing death, and operating while intoxicated causing serious injury (Surviving victim).
He was arraigned late Wednesday (Jan. 3) afternoon in the hospital by the 36th District Court, where he received a $100,000 cash bond.
If a bond is posted, Wesley will be on house arrest with a GPS and alcohol tether.
A probable cause conference is on Jan. 12 in 36th District Court.
“This is a very hard, but unfortunately not a surprising way to start the New Year,” said Worthy. “Lives will be changed forever. The evidence in this case will show that alcohol was involved when the defendant was driving. Now, a man is dead, and another is seriously injured.”
