TAYLOR, Mich. – Police say a man has been arrested in connection to multiple stabbings at a bar in Taylor on New Year’s Eve.
“I felt myself dying,” said Ashlee Piquard as she fought back tears. “I literally felt like I was dying.”
It was supposed to be a fun night at Halftime Bar on Ecorse Road when chaos happened, according to Piquard. She was with family and friends in the packed neighborhood bar, gathering to ring in the New Year.
The 28-year-old woman said there was argument among other patrons inside the bar, allegedly over a game of pool. That argument escalated into a brawl.
“There was a lot of people there,” Piquard recalled.
Three people were stabbed. Two women and one man are among the victims.
“I started getting stomped on,” Piquard explained. “I didn’t even know I was being stabbed. The adrenaline was so crazy. I truly did not know I was being stabbed. Like, I had no clue.”
Piquard was stabbed seven times. She was rushed to the hospital with wounds covering her arms, abdomen and back.
“It all could have been prevented,” Piquard said. “It all could have been prevented.”
Investigators with Taylor Police said they arrested a suspect late Wednesday night, Jan. 3. The unidentified man is due in court this week. Police said this remains an ongoing investigation.
Piquard said she’s still processing the traumatic event.
“I’m sick about this,” she said. “It’s just making me move different with people around me.”
