52-year-old Bedford Township man arrested after ‘terroristic threats’ reported

Weapons, ballistic vests recovered during search of residence

BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 52-year-old man from Bedford Township was arrested after the sheriff’s office said he made “terroristic threats.”

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the threats on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024.

The sheriff’s office said the man claimed to have means to carry out the threats and that he would “not be taken out in handcuffs” and was “writing his manifesto.” He also claimed to have a ballistic vest and threatened to live stream the incident on social media.

The threats were investigated by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Uniform Service Division as well as the Monroe County Sheriff’s Detective Bureau. Investigators obtained an arrest warrant and search warrant.

He was taken into custody without incident. Investigators recovered weapons and several ballistic vests from his residence.

The suspect is being held at the Monroe County Jail. His identity will not be released until he has been officially charged.
