FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum -- the locally-famous Farmington Hills spot for arcade games, pinball and some uniquely odd coin-operated machines -- is looking at an uncertain future.

The city’s Planning Commission has approved a plan to tear it down. The developer that owns the land wants to give the site a facelift, demolishing Marvin’s and replacing it with a “smaller footprint” Meijer.
The City Council put plans on hold due to concerns they had with the proposal.
City Council came with their questions and their concerns. They asked several questions of the property owners about their proposal to transform the strip mall, which would mean no more Marvin’s Marvelous Museum, at least in its existing location.
The biggest issues seemed to be a proposed drive-through and how that would impact traffic in the area. There was also an issue with the Meijer itself and the proposed signage on the building, which would take up about 70,000 square feet of the property.
For the handful of people who spoke Monday about that plan, it was about how that redevelopment would phase out Marvin’s, a one-of-a-kind, unique family-friendly business at the center of the mall.
