Morning 4: Poll finds Michigan voters prefer Trump over Biden, but unhappy with both in 2024 -- and more news

Here are the top stories for the morning of Jan. 10, 2024

In this combination of photos, President Joe Biden speaks on Aug. 10, 2023, in Salt Lake City, left, and former President Donald Trump speaks on July 8, 2023, in Las Vegas. Trump is spending the third anniversary of a mob of his supporters overrunning the U.S. Capitol by campaigning to win back the White House. He has two events in Iowa and repeating lies that seek to reframe how the country remembers the deadly insurrection. Poll: Where Michigan voters stand on another Biden-Trump presidential race in 2024

Former President Donald Trump maintains a slight lead over incumbent President Joe Biden among Michigan voters for the upcoming presidential election, but both candidates’ favorability ratings are quite low, according to a new WDIV/Detroit News poll.

Results from a survey of Michigan voters conducted between Jan. 2-6 found that both Republican frontrunner Trump and Democratic incumbent Biden are viewed unfavorably among Michiganders -- especially compared to Michigan’s leader, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Still, if the 2024 presidential election were held today, surveyed Michigan voters said they’d choose Trump over Biden.
