FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – People are still struggling almost a year after a devastating fire in Farmington Hills.

A fire at Country Glen Condos in March 2023 has left people wondering when they can go back home. Residents said it’s been a nightmare and 10 months later, they’re still feeling the impact.

Dennis Manley said he just wants things to go back to normal for his mother, who was displaced by the fire.

“It’s been about a year, and for my mom, honestly it’s been really hard because her money that she had for living expenses ran out a while ago,” Manley said.

He said it’s been nothing but delays in terms of when the reconstruction is going to be done.

”We just keep hearing that the date keeps moving up and moving up,” Manley said. “As far as I know, the date has been pushed to end of June, where initially it was supposed to be April.”

In the meantime, his mother has been living with him while the work goes on, but he feels bad for the other seniors who may not have a place to go.

When approaching management about the problem, he said he’s been getting nothing but the runaround. Ultimately, he just wants the right thing to be done. After all, this is the second time that this has happened.

“You almost want to get more involved but you just don’t know where to start because you’re just one person,” Manley said.

Local 4 reached out to the management company, but have not heard anything back.
