NOVI, Mich. – Emagine Theatres has canceled the Detroit Lions-Los Angeles Rams playoff viewing party at the request of the National Football League.

The Lions and Rams will kick off this Sunday (Jan. 14) inside Ford Field at 8 p.m. But, viewers will have to watch it at their local establishment or in the comfort of their homes as the NFL has prohibited Emagine Theaters from hosting its planned viewing party at their locations.

It was announced on Wednesday (Jan. 10) that Emagine would be showing the game for free in several of its locations across Southeast Detroit, but due to licensing, amongst other things, it will not be allowed at this time.

This Sunday’s game is not only the first Lions playoff game to take place at home at Ford Field in three decades -- the team will also be facing off against their former quarterback, Matthew Stafford.

Kickoff for the big game is at 8 p.m. on Sunday. We’ll have live pre-game coverage on Local 4 starting at 6:30 p.m.!

The 2023-2024 season proved to be the Lions’ first 12-win season since 1991, and captured their 10th best record ever.
