Hundreds of school districts were closed around Metro Detroit on Tuesday, and hundreds more were closing on Wednesday as the frigid cold continues.
As of 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, more than 500 closures were reported for the day.

A wind chill advisory is in effect for all of Southeast Michigan until noon on Wednesday as wind chills will range from -15 to -20 degrees (Fahrenheit), which could lead to frostbite for exposed skin in as little as 15 minutes.
