DETROIT – Michigan prosecutors laid out a timeline of what they think happened on Oct. 21 when Samantha Woll was stabbed to death outside her home in Detroit.
Multiple witnesses took the stand Tuesday (Jan. 16) afternoon and gave their perspectives on the events that took place while drawing a picture of what happened to Woll.
Kevin Mull, a neighbor of Woll, said he was walking a dog in the Lafayette Park neighborhood on the morning of Oct. 21.
“In the course of doing so, I discovered a body lying near by the sidewalk,” said Mull.
Mull says due to what he saw, it was clear that Woll was deceased.
“As I approached to see if that person needed assistance, it was then that I realized that person was in a very bad situation, and I decided that I needed to go for help,” Mull said.
Woll’s body was just feet from her front door, and the Detroit Police Department Homicide Unit was called to the scene, followed by a trail of blood inside her condo, blood leading downstairs, towards the basement, and outside her footprints also evident.
“Flip flops and a blanket and a pillow which was also soiled in blood,” said Detroit police Sgt. Darren Zell.
The medical examiner’s report was read, in which details too graphic to share were mentioned in court as Woll’s family listened on as they found out that she had been stabbed eight times.
The Nov. 30 arrest of the person charged with killing Woll, Michael Jackson-Bolanos, was then detailed by the Michigan State Police, who said they were following him in his own car in Macomb County.
“I was assisting in a mobile surveillance operation of the suspect for this investigation,” said Michigan State Police Trooper Alex Martinez. “We followed the suspect south on Utica near Castle Street. He was driving his 2007 Dodge Charger registered in his name.”
The preliminary examination was held partly on Tuesday (Jan. 16) and will resume at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 23).
