MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A giant birthday bash was held for a Macomb County boy with terminal cancer.
Micheal Monterosso’s 11th birthday party was held Friday (Jan. 19) evening at his elementary school in Washington Township.
The school community surprised him with a DJ, balloon animals, a bounce house, a photo booth, and more.
Micheal’s mom, Phyllis Monterosso, didn’t know what to expect.
“It was so overwhelming, and it just makes me happy to see that he is so well loved,” said Phyllis.
Phyllis said her son has been battling cancer for a few years, but just last month, they found out it was terminal.
That’s when their priorities shifted after spending years in hospitals following medical protocols.
“We’re trying to do all the things we couldn’t and shove as much into this time that we have as possible,” Phyllis said. “And this (party) is meant to do that.”
The birthday party was also a fundraiser with silent auction items and raffle prizes.
All the money raised will go to the Monterosso family to help them live out Micheal’s dreams.
