‘Football is family’ -- Former Lions kicker Eddie Murray not only Lion in family

‘Maybe we’re good luck’

DETROIT – Former Lions kicker Eddie Murray is one of the leading scorers in the franchise’s history.

He last kicked for the Lions during its incredible 1991 season and on this playoff run, his family is still part of the team.

Murray, his daughter Nicole and his wife Cindy are a true football family. It was easy when Eddie played 12 seasons with the Lions, but things became complicated when he played for other teams starting in 1992.

Mom and Nicole stayed back because Cinday had a successful business and Nicole had been spending time in dance classes.

Long after Eddie won a Super Bowl with the Dallas Cowboys, he retired from the game in 2000. His commitment to the Lions grew and Nicole would tag along.

Nicole’s worlds are colliding and there’s now another Murray wearing Honolulu Blue. She tried out and made it as Detroit Lions Cheerleader,

“This is my rookie season,” Nicole said. “What a season to be a rookie.”

Like the whole fanbase, the Murray family is enjoying the Lions playoff run. It brings back wonderful memories and brings them closer together.
