The preliminary investigation found a 2023 Ford F-250, with three people inside, lost control and drove off the road, where it overturned and came to a rest in a pond after breaking through the ice.

One of the passengers was ejected prior to entering the pond, while another was able to free himself from the truck and swim to shore. Both were transported to McLaren Port Huron with minor injuries.

The third passenger was located by members of the dive team, submerged in water. He was transported to McLaren Macomb hospital where he later died. He has not been identified.

The St. Clair County Accident Investigation Team is continuing the investigation.
