Shelby Township police responded to the incident, and Farish allegedly assaulted three officers when they were attempting to arrest him.

The 30-year-old was charged and arraigned on assault with intent to murder (Life felony) for the stabbing of his mother.

After an independent investigation by the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office has added additional charges of three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon (Four-year felonies) and three counts of assaulting, resisting, obstructing a police officer (Two-year felonies).

On Friday (Jan. 12), Farish was arraigned on the assault with intent to murder charge in Shelby Township, where he was given a $2 million cash bond. The 30-year-old man was referred to Community Corrections for a mental health evaluation.

“We will vigorously pursue justice for those who brazenly assault our law enforcement officers,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “Such acts not only jeopardize the safety of those who protect our communities but also undermine the very fabric of a society built on respect for the rule of law.”

An arraignment date for the new charges has not been scheduled at this time.
