73-year-old man found guilty of making bomb threat by phone to Warren court

The Macomb County Circuit Court has convicted Lynn Morton, 73, of Warren, for making a bomb threat by phone to court.

On Sept. 15, 2022, Morton contacted the 37th Warren District Court by phone and made a threat to bomb the court.

On Oct. 18, 2022, the 73-year-old man was arrested for his warrant for the bomb threat, and while he was at the Warren Police Department, he refused officers’ commands and did not comply with officers.

Morton was charged and found guilty of a false report or threat of a bomb or harmful device (Four-year felony) and assaulting, resisting, and obstructing a police officer (Two-year felony).

The 73-year-old is scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday (Feb. 29) at 9 a.m.

“Threats to our judicial system and resistance to law enforcement are serious offenses that will not be tolerated,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “This guilty verdict sends a clear message that such behavior will be met with legal consequences, and our justice system will hold individuals accountable for their actions.”
