Authorities said Miles Farish, a 30-year-old from Shelby Township, called 911, said he had stabbed his mother and repeatedly demanded police kill him. When officers arrived at the Shelby Oaks Apartment Complex, Farish reportedly refused to comply with verbal commands and ran toward them with a knife. The sheriff’s office said one officer attempted to use a taser on him twice before officers used their guns.

He was transported to Troy Beaumont Hospital and is expected to survive.

No officers were hurt in the incident.

After completing its investigation, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office said no evidence warrants charging the officers.
