2 arrested after methamphetamine, machete found during Shelby Township traffic stop

Driver reportedly admitted he was in area to sell drugs

Police seized 24 grams of methamphetamine, several narcotic prescription pills, scales, and a machete during a Jan. 19, 2024 traffic stop. (WDIV)

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 52-year-old man from Brighton and a 31-year-old woman from Yale were taken into custody Jan. 19 after a traffic stop in Shelby Township.

The two were pulled over near the intersection of Schoenherr and 22 Mile roads. According to authorities, the driver admitted to police he had a revoked driver’s license. Police said he had several warrants out for his arrest and the passenger admitted there was methamphetamine hiding under the front seat.

Police said about 24 grams of methamphetamine, several narcotic prescription pills, scales and a machete were found under the driver’s seat. The driver reportedly said he was in the area in an attempt to sell methamphetamine.

The two were taken into custody.
