Chesterfield Township crash kills 1, police seek other driver that fled on foot

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police in Chesterfield Township are looking for a driver believed to be responsible for a fatal crash that happened Friday, Jan. 26.

The crash happened at about 9 p.m. on Gratiot Avenue, near 25 Mile Road. Police said the responding officers found a “massive crash scene” that was spread over a large area of the road.

According to authorities, the crash involved two vehicles a Kia sedan and a Ford F-250. The driver of the Kia, a 39-year-old woman from Chesterfield Township, died at the scene. Police said the driver of the Ford, only described as a man, was seen by witnesses running from the scene on foot.

Police are still searching for the driver of the Ford and anyone with information is urged to contact Chesterfield Township Police Detective Kline at 586-949-3573.
