For Lions fans, we’re thinking about where we’re going to watch the game and who will be there. But if you’re Chief White, you’re also making sure we stay safe.
Fans said they’re confident in the Detroit Police Department and Detroiters.
If the Lions have a win on Sunday, Detroit will be the place to celebrate.
“I think we’re going to show up like we should,” said Jerrica Mickens. “I think it’s going to be fantastic!”
“I’m so excited about having a good time without all the other stuff going on,” said Vernon Adams. “I’m just so proud of Detroit right now, it’s exciting.”
Tens of thousands were downtown for back-to-back playoff games and the stakes on Sunday against the 49s couldn’t be higher.
“I have never seen this in my whole lifetime, so I’m really excited,” Mickens said. “I think the whole city is excited and the vibe has been amazing, Honolulu Blue crazy!”
White said he knows fans are pumped and that his officers are ready.
“We’re going to be out on patrol. Can’t share intricate details but certainly highly visible patrols in neighborhoods and community,” White said. “I’m confident that our community will celebrate responsibly, we will be on patrol to make sure everyone celebrates responsibly.”
Ford Field is hosting a sold-out watch party with 34,000 tickets sold. And Detroit bars and restaurants are expecting an influx of fans for the game.

“This is the first time in history, so we’re definitely going to have fun but I don’t think people gonna be outrageous,” Mickens said. “I think people will be under control it’ll be a good time.”
“Just enjoy yourself and the moment and the year and Lions pride and Detroit pride and show the world what Detroit is all about,” Adams concluded.
