DETROIT – A family is now on edge after a shooting leaves their home riddled with bullets on Detroit’s west side.

“It’s very traumatizing,” said the father in the family. “It’s not right for someone just to be shooting. Bullets don’t have no name.”

Multiple shots came barreling through the home of a family of five.

The incident occurred while three children were in the house. The oldest eight. The youngest - only one.

“My son could have been sitting right here playing my game,” the father said. “If it was any other time of the day, one of us would’ve got hit by a bullet. Every bullet went to a place where my kids be at in the house. That’s scary.”

“It’s really scary,” said the mother. “Like now, I don’t want to live in the neighborhood.”

Local 4 isn’t showing any faces because the family is concerned about its safety. But It took place at Ryan Court Apartments on Ewald Circle around 4 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 27). Dad also worries about the other kids in the area.

“This whole building have kids in it so, that’s very senseless for somebody to be doing anything like that,” the father said.

The family isn’t the only victimized, showing how they weren’t the intended targets. Right next door, a neighbor took multiple shots through the front door.

Police officers recovered several shell casings to investigate who’s responsible for pulling the trigger, but even still, the family says they want out.

They’ve been sleeping at a family member’s house because they just don’t feel safe laying their head where bullets have been known to fly.

“I’m happy I got somewhere to go,” the mother said. “But it’s hard having to uproot and live somewhere else.”

“Our mind is changed and made up,” the father said. “We have to go somewhere different.”

A GoFundMe has been set up to assist the family.
