A 73-year-old pedestrian has died after a driver hit her in Shelby Township.

The incident occurred on Wednesday (Jan. 31) at 8 p.m. on 25 Mile Road near Mound Road.

Officials say the driver of the vehicle was a 55-year-old woman from Macomb Township. She was traveling eastbound on 25 Mile Road when she hit the woman who was walking in the roadway.

The 55-year-old stopped at the scene and cooperated with police.

Police say the 73-year-old succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

The case is under investigation, but anyone with information regarding the woman walking in the roadway is asked to contact the Shelby Township Police Detective Bureau at 586-731-2121 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up.
