Plymouth showcases community spirit with year full of events

The 2024 Plymouth Ice Festival runs from February 2 through February 4.

PLYMOUTH, Mich.Local 4 News is getting out of the studio and hitting the road to be In Your Neighborhood! We’re showcasing what makes our communities great!

There are a lot of things happening in Plymouth. It has a wide selection of shops, restaurants, Kellogg Park, the iconic Penn Theatre, and more.

Below you can find a list of upcoming events in the city:

April

Plymouth’s Downtown Development Authority has organized the city’s Artisan Market, where local artisans set up in Kellogg Park and in The Gathering on Penniman Avenue.

The Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Spring Fever event that focuses on spring flowers.

May

A town favorite, the Farmers Market, starts back up in May and runs through October.

Music in the Air begins Memorial Day weekend and runs through Labor Day. On Friday nights, people fill Kellogg Park to enjoy live music outdoors.

July

Plymouth’s Good Morning 4th of July Parade kicks off the month, sponsored by the Kiwanis and Rotary clubs.

Art in the Park, a three-day art fair drawing artists from all over the country takes place the next weekend.

Bumpers, Bikes and Bands, an event featuring old cars, music and food, comes to the Old Village.

September

The first weekend of September brings carnival rides and games to downtown and entertainment to Kellogg Park in the Fall Festival. Additionally, many community service groups cook up meals, featuring spaghetti dinners, pancake breakfasts, and the iconic Chicken-in-a-Box dinner.

Scarecrows, sponsored and decorated by local businesses, will placed along the paths of Kellogg Park.

October

The Old Village Association will host its Chili Cookoff, where locals compete for the bragging rights of best chili.

Kids can safely trick-or-treat downtown in Pumpkin Palooza, put on by the Chamber of Commerce.

November

The Downtown Development Authority and Salvation Army partners for the Red Kettle Campaign in Kellogg Park. There will be hot chocolate and music from the Salvation Army Band.

Santa returns to town. He will travel in the bucket of a Plymouth fire ladder truck through the city and stop to visit children before lighting the city’s tree in Kellogg Park.

December

Local businesses will sponsor and decorate Christmas Trees through Kellogg Park.

Christmas in Plymouth is a two-day event with food trucks, entertainment and an outdoor holiday market.
