PORT HURON, Mich. – An hourslong standoff between a barricaded gunman and Port Huron police has come to an end.

Police issued an alert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, after a man barricaded himself in a home and fired several gunshots out of a home in the area of 12th and Chestnut streets.
The residents who live in the area were asked to shelter in place and avoid standing near doors and windows. The all-clear was given around 9 a.m.
Police said they deployed an irritant gas into the home throughout the night and this morning and that people who live in the area should keep their doors and windows closed to keep any gas from entering their home.
At 6:45 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 4, police said the man was still barricaded in his home and fired several more shots out of the home throughout the night. Police said it is still an “active situation with a very large police presence.”
The suspect was taken into custody around 9 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 4. Police said there will still be a large presence in the area near the home as they investigate.
“Thank you everyone for your cooperation and patience as this incident unfolded. We were working alongside our partner agencies to resolve this incident quickly and safely as possible,” police said on social media.
