PORT HURON, Mich. – A 23-year-old man was taken into custody after a 15-hour standoff with police in Port Huron.

Police said officers were called to reports that the man had fired a round from a handgun after an altercation with his family. It happened at 5:25 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, in the area of 12th and Chestnut streets.
All family members inside the home were able to escape, except for a 16-year-old. The teen was held against their will, but was able to escape eventually, according to police.
The 23-year-old man barricaded himself in the house and was armed with multiple firearms. He was also seen wearing body armor. He fired several additional rounds and did not comply with police when they told him to exit the home.
Police said the man continued to shoot at police from inside the home during a 15-hour standoff. Extensive damage was done to the home. He shot a drone that was being used by tactical teams and shot at a Michigan State Police armored vehicle, causing minor damage.
The 23-year-old man was taken into custody around 9 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 4.
