Doctor brothers to fill healthcare void on Detroit’s northwest side with new medical center

DETROITLocal 4 News is getting out of the studio and hitting the road to be In Your Neighborhood! We’re showcasing what makes our communities great!

A couple of local physicians are working to make sure healthcare resources and options are more accessible to neighbors in areas where they can’t find convenient access to medical centers.

Dr. Greg Naman and Dr. Ted Naman are preparing to open a new Epic Health Primary Care at 4059 W. Davison Street. The Detroit Davison Center, the doctors say, will help fill a void in the city’s northwest side.

“Alright guys, come on in,” Dr. Ted Naman said as he opened the gate to an old and blighted building that’s under construction.

The W. Davison Street building has been sitting vacant for some time.

“Where there’s an underrepresentation for good, quality, health care we’re trying to bring that back into the community,” Dr. Ted Naman explained.

Dr. Ted Naman and his brother, Dr. Greg Naman, are primary care physicians. They said the location of the Epic Health Primary Care Detroit Davison Center was intentional. They said access to health care has been a challenge for many neighbors living across the 48238 zip code.

“There’s about 70,000 people in this area that don’t have a health care center around here,” Dr. Greg Naman explained. “They have to travel outside of that.”

The new medical center is a few months from opening. Contractors have been busy gutting the building. The new center will have state-of-the-art technology in its waiting area and a variety of patient rooms. It will have a full range of clinical services for children and adults. The organizers are also adding community access areas and more.

“There’s going to be things and services that you may not even find at a hospital level, that you’re going to find here in the community,” Dr. Greg Naman added.

The Naman brothers said they are passionate about bringing quality and accessible health care to those who need it. They already have a track record of success, operating several integrated medical centers across Metro Detroit.

The new Epic Primary Care Detroit Davison Center is expected to open by summer 2024.
