STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – The former head of the Michigan Democratic Party has filed an ethics complaint against Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido, claiming Lucido allowed a failed Sterling Heights City Council candidate to use county property for campaign purposes.
A lawyer and a signed affidavit say those allegations are false.
Lucido was the number one Republican vote-getter among the county-wide offices last go-round, and he’s been a popular target for Democratic activists since.
The latest complaint about Lucdio comes from the former Head of the Michigan Democratic Party, Mark Brewer.
Brewer filed an ethics complaint against Lucido, claiming he allowed Paul Manni, who ran for a Sterling Heights city council seat and lost access to county property like buildings, for his campaign.
The Brewer complaint encloses a piece of political literature Manni sent out trumpeting Lucido’s endorsement of him and shows the two.
One was in an office with Lucido, and one was outside what looked to be the glass door in front of his office.
A letter from Manni’s attorney arrived at the county ethics board saying Brewer’s allegation is entirely false and includes a signed affidavit from Manni, who says yes, he met with Lucido and took pics of the two with his cell phone.
And Lucido had no idea Manni would use them in political literature, nor did he get Lucido’s consent to use them.
