Detroiter arrested in University of Colorado double-homicide

COLORADO SPRINGS – A man from Detroit is accused of killing two people at the University of Colorado’s campus in Colorado Springs on Friday, Feb. 16.

According to authorities, Nicholas Jordan, 25, is facing two charges of first-degree murder.

Police were called to the campus just before 6 a.m. on reports of shots fired inside one of the dorm buildings. They found two people who had been shot to death at Creston House. They said the shooting was an isolated incident, was not a random attack and that the people involved knew each other.

The victims were identified by police as 26-year-old Celie Rain Montgomery and 24-year-old Samuel Knopp. Both are residents of Colorado.

Police said Jordan was taken into custody without incident Monday morning.

A campus-wide lockdown was issued for 90 minutes after the shooting, and the university remained closed for the day, through the weekend and into Monday.
