COLORADO SPRINGS – Bond was raised from $1 million to $5 million for a college student from Detroit accused of killing two people.

25-year-old Nicholas Jordan appeared in court Tuesday afternoon in Colorado Springs. Police believe he killed fellow student, Samuel Knopp, at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs and campus visitor Celie Montgomery.

The victims were found dead in a dorm room last Friday.

Police said this was not a random act.

“The suspect was the roommate of one of the victims. We’re still trying to piece together the other individual and find out how the three of them would have known each other or was there any relationship with that third person,” Colorado Springs Police Department Chief Adrian Vasquez said.

Police arrested Jordan Monday morning. They are looking into the circumstances that led up to the shooting.

“So there’s still some investigation that needs to happen and that will be ongoing for a while as we hand the case over to the district attorney’s office,” Vasquez said.

Jordan is due back in court Friday.
