DETROIT – We now know why a date mysteriously lit up Michigan Central Station in Corktown on Monday night.
The iconic train station has been closed for more than three decades, but on the evening of Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, the message “6.6.2024″ suddenly shone on the front.
Well, the mystery has been solved: June 6, 2024, is when the station will finally reopen its doors.
“We know Detroit and the world are eager to see how we’ve brought Michigan Central Station back to life,” Michigan Central Station officials said in a statement. “We are excited to show the first glimpse of the station on June 6, 2024, as we open its doors once again. Stay tuned to michigancentral.com and on our social media channels for more details.”
Michigan Central Station closed in 1988 and was bought by Ford in 2018.
Officials said they “don’t have more details to share at this time,” but information about ticket purchases will be released soon.
