31-year-old man charged with child neglect, drug possession in Port Huron

Alex Hammond, 31, was arrested by the St. Clair Drug Task Force for selling a quantity of methamphetamine, analogue pills, and crack cocaine in Port Huron.

Officials also seized packaging material, drug paraphernalia, and a digital scale in the 1100 block of Oak Street.

Hammond was taken into custody and transported to the St. Clair County Jail, with more charges coming for others in the investigation.

Police say the search of the home exposed deplorable living conditions, with three small children in the house not being cared for.

Hammond was charged with child neglect, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of crack cocaine, possession of analogues, possession of drug paraphernalia, and maintaining a drug house.

The 31-year-old was arraigned on the charges, and his bond was set at $25,000/10%.
