DETROIT – A woman was arrested after police say she “pulled a knife” on the driver of a vehicle she was in causing a rollover crash on I-96.

The incident happened around 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22, on I-96 near the Southfield Freeway.

Witnesses called 911 to report that a vehicle had rolled over and was blocking I-96. While Michigan State Police troopers were on their way to the crash, someone called to report that a woman was chasing a man with a knife at the crash scene.

When troopers arrived, they placed the woman under arrest.

Police said their investigation revealed a 32-year-old man from Livonia was driving on I-96 when a 31-year-old woman in the passenger seat “pulled a knife” on him. The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed.

Police said the couple were in a dating relationship.

No injuries were reported.

“If you are being abused in your relationship there is help available,” Michigan State Police F/Lt Mike Shaw said. “You can call 911 or the Michigan Domestic Violence Hotline at 866.VOICEDV to get help. Everyone deserves a relationship free of violence.”
