Officers located a man who was driving a Ford Escape. He had been ejected from his vehicle in the crash. The man was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police continue to investigate the crash. The victim has not yet been identified.
The second fatal crash was reported Sunday afternoon in the area of 10 Mile Rd and Ryan Road.
Emergency crews responded to a two-car crash on Ryan Road. First responders made contact with three occupants of a black Honda Accord, which sustained severe damage.
A male seated in the front passenger seat of the vehicle was pronounced dead on scene with an additional passenger being transported to an area hospital where he remains listed in critical condition. The driver of this vehicle sustained minor injuries but was transported to an area hospital for evaluation. The two occupants of the other vehicle involved, another black Honda Accord, were also transported to an area Hospital with minor injuries.
Police said the crash happened as one vehicle was attempted to make a left turn into a parking lot. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.
The victims of this crash have not been identified. The intersection of 10 Mile and Ryan was expected to be closed for several hours.
“It is unfortunate when somebody loses their life in a traffic crash. The fact that there have been two fatal crashes within 24 hours is very remarkable. Our investigators are on scene at 10 Mile and Ryan now and will be working to reconstruct the sequence of events which lead up to this crash which critically injured one person and caused the death of another. Investigators will also be working to determine what happened last night on Groesbeck which again, is a horrible tragedy. Our condolences go out to all the families affected by these horrible incidents,” said Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer.
