Road rage incident leads to fatal shooting on Detroit’s east side

Road rage shooting is third in Metro Detroit in past three days

DETROITDetroit police from the 11th Precinct got to the scene on East Davison near Sunset streets, but it was too late as a 49-year-old man was dead in the street.

The incident occurred on Thursday (Feb. 29), and police told Local 4 that the drivers of two cars got into some sort of road rage situation when one of the men brought their car to a stop in the middle of the Davison with the other driver right on his tail.

Police say that 49-year-old man got out of his car to walk over to the other vehicle when the other driver opened fire, shooting him multiple times.

He was dead at the scene.

The shooting was the second road rage shooting in Detroit in 24 hours and the third road rage shooting in the greater metro area in the past three days.

“Please stay in your vehicle,” said Captain Derrick Griffin. “If there’s an incident on the road, call 911 and keep driving. Don’t sweat the small stuff.”

Police picked up the shooter a short way from the scene.
