Florida man extradited to Michigan to face carjacking, torture charges

Osorio is the fourth defendant to be charged, arraigned in the kidnapping

Romeo Osorio, 23, from Florida, was extradited to Michigan in connection with a carjacking outside of a Lifetime Fitness in Shelby Township.

Police said on Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, Osorio and five other suspects carjacked the victim at gunpoint, restrained him in his own vehicle, and drove away.

Officials say the suspects tortured the victim and drove him to his own house. Sterling Heights police arrived at the victim’s residence, and Osorio fled.

Osorio is charged with the following:

  • Count One: Carjacking (life felony)
  • Count Two: Conspiracy to commit carjacking (life felony)
  • Count Three: Armed robbery (life felony)
  • Count Four: Conspiracy to commit armed robbery (life felony)
  • Count Five: Torture (life felony)
  • Count Six: Unlawful imprisonment (15-year felony)
  • Count Seven: Conspiracy to commit unlawful imprisonment (life felony)
  • Count Eight: Conspiracy to commit first-degree home invasion (20-year felony)

The 23-year-old was charged in 41A Shelby Township District Court where the bond was set at $3 million, cash only.

A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Monday, March 11, at 1:30 p.m.

Osorio is the fourth defendant to be charged and arraigned in the case.

Angel Andujar-Ruiz, Angel Pantoja, and Renado Coleman have already been arraigned in this case.
