Chopper video: 3 arrested after doing donuts in stolen vehicle, fleeing police in Wayne County

Driver suspected in ‘shots fired’ call in Southfield

DETROIT – Three people were arrested after a Michigan State Police helicopter tracked them doing donuts and fleeing police in a chase in Wayne County.

On Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 12:30 a.m., Michigan State Police identified a vehicle suspected in a “shots fired” call in Southfield. Police said Southfield officers arrived to reports of gunshots and a black Chrysler 300 sped away from the scene.

Southfield police chased the vehicle, but lost it. Michigan State Police spotted the vehicle in the area of M-39 and I-96 and tracked it until the driver met up with the driver of a black Challenger.

The driver of the Challenger got out and talked with the driver of the Chrysler 300 for a moment before returning to the Challenger. Michigan State Police tracked them until the driver of the Chrysler 300 lost control and stopped at the intersection of Wyoming Avenue and McNichols Road.

The people in the vehicle got out out of the Chrysler and got into the challenger. They drove until they reached the area of Gilbert Street and Michigan Avenue and all three tried to run away from police on foot.

All three of them were arrested.
