Prosecutor Kim Worthy charged Kevin Merritt Butler, 61, with shooting at his 55-year-old wife during a domestic dispute in Westland.
The incident occurred on Sunday (March. 3) at 3:35 p.m. Westland police were dispatched to a home in the 36000 block of Cherry Hill for the shooting.

Officials said when they arrived at the home, they were advised that the 55-year-old had left the scene, and Butler was still inside.
Police said they set up a perimeter around the home and notified the Western Wayne Tactical Response Unit to assist.
After an eight-hour standoff, officers entered the home and arrested Butler.
Allegedly, Butler fired his handgun at his wife before barricading himself inside the home. Mrs. Butler did not sustain any injuries.
Butler was charged with discharging a firearm in or at a building, felonious assault, resisting and obstructing a police officer, domestic violence, and two counts of felony firearm.
He was charged Tuesday, March 5, in 18th District Court and given a $300,000/10% bond with a GPS tether.
The probable cause conference is scheduled for March 14 at 8:30 a.m., and the preliminary examination is scheduled for March 21 at 8:30 a.m.
