Those who were logged into Facebook were logged out and unable to log in or change their passwords. Instagram users were not logged out but were unable to refresh their feeds on the Instagram app, while Instagram in a web browser would only partially load.

According to MetaStatus.com, the company saw “major disruptions” across nearly all platforms. Most services were restored at about 1 p.m.

Andy Stone, the head of Communications for Meta, acknowledged on social media that they were aware of the service issues and that the company was working on a fix. He later posted that the disruption was caused by a technical issue.
