Northern Michigan woman arrested in Lincoln Park with stolen truck, gun

Woman found with stolen items, prescription pills, police say

LINCOLN PARK, Mich. – A 25-year-old woman from Alpena was taken into police custody after traveling roughly 250 miles to Metro Detroit following a theft in Northern Michigan.

According to authorities, Olivia Elizabeth McKinnon was identified as a suspect in the theft of a vehicle and a gun from a home in Ossineke, just south of Alpena. Police said McKinnon had been renting a room from the home for several weeks before leaving the residence with the homeowner’s Ram truck and handgun on Feb. 24.

An alert was sent to Michigan State Police posts across the state and the stolen vehicle was found in the parking lot of a motel on Dix Highway in Lincoln Park. Police knocked on the motel door and identified McKinnon as the occupant, which led to the execution of a search warrant.

Police said they recovered the stolen handgun, the truck and a “quantity of prescription pills” from the motel.

McKinnon was arrested and transported to the Alpena County Jail. She’s been charged with unauthorized driving away of a motor vehicle, larceny of a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and felony firearm.

Her bond was set at $35,000 cash surety.
