Dearborn and Hamtramck are going head-to-head all for a good cause, but they need your help.
On Friday, March 8, the cities will participate in a charity basketball game, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated, with 50% to charities helping people in Palestine and 50% to charities helping people in Yemen.
Each team will include players from the CRSD basketball league, political leaders, activists, and social media influencers.
Last year, the game raised $15,000 for charities that give to people in Syria, Turkey, and Yemen.
“We typically have this game right before Ramadan so that by the time the money gets to them, they can use that money to buy necessities for the month of Ramadan,” said Omar Thabet of OZ Media, one of the organizers. “Palestine, as you know, you can see on the news, a lot going on, and then you have Yemen, the largest humanitarian crisis for years and years, so they need all the assistance they can get as well.”
