Flushing man charged with stalking Michigan AG, Plymouth city commissioner

More information to be put on record in court

Christopher Dean Baldwin (Plymouth Police Department)

WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – A Flushing man is accused of stalking Michigan’s attorney general and a Plymouth city commissioner.

Christopher Dean Baldwin, 40, has been charged with two counts of misdemeanor stalking in connection with stalking Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and her wife, Plymouth city commissioner Alanna Maguire.

Prosecutors did not release much information on the case, and said that more specific information will be placed on the record in court.

Prosecutors said that on Monday, March 4, Baldwin attended a Plymouth commission meeting in Plymouth Township where Maguire was in attendance.

At 8:34 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, police officers were called to Nessel’s family home in Plymouth after Baldwin rang the doorbell and sat on the front porch. Police officers arrested Baldwin when they arrived.

Prosecutors said Baldwin had tried to contact Nessel previously.

Baldwin was arraigned on Thursday, March 7, in 35th District Court before Judge Michael Gerou and given a $100,000/10% bond with a GPStether. He has been ordered to have no contact with Nessel and Maguire, no controlled substances, and to surrender all firearms.

“The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office will always take any and all threats against public officials very seriously. This simply will not be tolerated. Unfortunately, in today’s climate threats to elected and other officials have become normalized. Not by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, ever,” Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said.

A pre-trial is scheduled for 9 a.m. on March 15 before Judge James Plakas.
