LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mich. – A man suspected in an Eastpointe shooting was arrested in Brighton after a police chase.
At 1:55 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, Brighton police officers tried to pull over a driver near the intersection of W Grand River Avenue and Challis Road. The driver had multiple warrants for his arrest and was wanted out of Eastpointe for a shooting that happened in January.
The driver did not stop and Brighton police officers chased him through the city. They stopped the chase after they lost sight of the car. At 2:05 p.m. they found the vehicle parked near Advance Street and the driver ran away.
Investigators set up a perimeter and used drones and two dogs to search for the driver. At 3:40 p.m., an officer said he found the suspect and was chasing him on foot. He was arrested at 3:41 p.m. He is being held at the Livingston County Jail.
Police said the suspect had a pistol on him when he was arrested, but neither the suspect nor police fired a weapon.
No injuries were reported.
