PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – An investigation into the deaths of four goats has led to the discovery of a large illegal marijuana farm just outside of Kalamazoo.

According to authorities, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office was investigating an animal welfare complaint in Pennfield Township on Saturday, March 9, when they discovered four dead goats.

A search warrant was approved so deputies could see what other animals were potentially on the property. During the execution of the search warrant, authorities said they found a large illegal marijuana grow operation in one building that contained more than 140 plants.
