Sheetz to break ground on first Metro Detroit location

First store expected to open later this year

Sheetz is planning to break ground on its first Metro Detroit location this week.

The a family-owned and operated Mid-Atlantic restaurant and convenience chain said it would be opening new locations in Romulus and Chesterfield Township in the near future. An opening date was not announced.

The first groundbreaking is planned for Thursday, March 14, in Romulus, at 33380 Wick Road. The Chesterfield Township location will be on 23 Mile Road, just east of I-94.

Sheetz, which plans to open 50 to 60 stores in the Detroit-area within the next five to six years, is projected to open its first-ever location to the public in late 2024.

Sheetz is one of America’s fastest-growing family-owned and operated convenience store chains with more than 25,000 employees. The company operates over 710 store locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio and North Carolina.
