ALPENA, Mich. – A 36-year-old man from Alpena was sentenced Thursday, March 14, to spend the rest of his life in jail without parole.

Brad Srebnik was convicted in February of two counts of first-degree murder and three other felonies in connection with the 2021 murders of 31-year-old Abby Hill and 17-year-old Brynn Bills.

Bills was last seen in August 2021, shortly before she would have turned 18 years old. Michigan State Police identified Srebnik, Joshua Wirgau and Hill as being potentially involved in Bills’ disappearance. Her body was unearthed in Wirgau’s yard in Alpena Township more than a year later.

Police believe Srebnik and Wirgau killed Hill to stop her from revealing information about Bill’s murder.

Wirgau was sentenced to 15-30 years after he pled guilty to disinterment and mutilation of a dead body, felony accessory after the fact and involuntary manslaughter

“Srebnik murdered two young women in cold blood, and the loss of Brynn Bills and Abby Hill will be mourned by this community and their families for years to come,” said Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. “This is a just and appropriate sentence.”
